This bit of Olympic protest I think is a bit more effective then smashing the windows of HBC. I actually support your position, but I am unable to get behind ineffective and alienating violent gestures. You’re scaring away all of the reasonable people with illogical actions! Feel free to disagree.
This was sprayed on the concrete on Granville street, right down from the light totem poles.
To celebrate the beginning of the 27th Year-of-the-Pete we headed down to Petoria for a bonfire and some melted mallows. Thanks to everyone who stopped me from putting plastic in the fire to “see what colour it would burn”. Ugh, rum…
I built this.
Warm, warm. E-Rock and Liz Lemon.
I’m not sure what there is about these mountains to scream about, but Danielle is pulling one hell of a Munch-face. She must be lamenting the horror of the work contained in the Portrait Gallery of Canada – that’s right I’m talking about those weird pictures of Mackenzie King’s dog playing poker with his deceased parents. Creepy.
I attended the Olympic Opening Ceremony street party on Friday night with a few friends. Although we couldn’t get into any of the Houses (or into a bar with a TV) we wandered the streets and observed the festivities. I haven’t seen so many Canadian flags since… well, never. Directly below is a shot of Robson and Granville and below that is a shot of my friend Will. That’s one red scarf and happy Canadian, let me tell you.
This little(?) guy didn’t know what hit him. This 65lb King thought he was eating a delicious piece of swimming sushi and next thing you know… he’s been bonked on the face, stuffed, and hung above some (gorgeous) chick’s desk. Who wouldn’t take up smoking?
This is the image of my Vectorial Elevation design displayed at 7:30pm on February 7th, 2010. I may not be super excited about the Olympics, but it’s hard to argue against the amazing cultural opportunities and funding available in the city right now!
I decided to put the lights at the lowest elevation possible facing directly out the middle of false creek. A bit like a beacon. Take a look at the website they create for each entry: http://www.vectorialvancouver.net/archive.php?id=4965
Oh wait… hold up. Before we go, I think this calls for a U2 lyric or two: “high, higher than the sun / you shoot me from a gun / I need you to elevate me here / at the corner of your lips / as the orbit of your hips / eclipse, you elevate my soul.” So glad I didn’t miss that opportunity. Whew! Close one. Anytime one uses the word “Elevation” you know a U2 lyric is in order.
Since we’s just gettin’ to know one another (dear blog readers) I thought you might like to look through my eyes. What is it like to be a glitterkitten? This is what I see when I look beyond the computer. The blurriness may be from the phone, but it reflects the actual blurriness of my work-weary little eyes.
