Monthly Archives: March 2010

Aside from the lovely photos of my friends (who were aware that they were being photographed) the glitter in these photos are the accidental howlers in the background. I’m in the top photo, and DD is in the bottom photo. Is is any small wonder that we are friends? I think not. It is ridiculous, fortuitous, and somewhat amazing that these were taken mere weeks apart, completely by accident.

Why is Most of Our Business Repeat Guests?

So… some of you may be aware that I work in the sport-fishing industry. This is the newsletter that was sent out to all current and former guests this week. Below is my favorite article out of it. Thank goodness I am not the marketing person responsible for this! I have removed all references to the resort and its specific location.

Caution Ninja

From Wikipedia: “The mysterious nature of the ninja has long captured popular imagination in Japan, and later the rest of the world. Ninjas figure prominently in folklore and legend, and as a result it is often difficult to separate historical fact from myth. Some legendary abilities include invisibility, walking on water, and control over natural elements.”

Truly, caution is required:

This little gem above was brought to you by the graffiti-artists of the West Side, near Jericho Sailing Club. As for Wikipedia, I can understand the difficulty in separating the accurate historical information from myth in this case, since we’re dealing with walking on water. Clearly the question is: was Jesus a ninja?

Hmm… the logical next step is of course to wonder what Steampunk might have to say on the topic of ninja Jesus. Don’t worry, I’ve done the research for you:

And as a final note (just because I can) here’s a little something to tie it into yesterday’s post:

Don’t be grabbin’ this banana.

Top Banana

I am currently using this posting to procrastinate from writing my term paper on representations, so I thought I might make the distraction legitimate by incorporating a representation into this post (although don’t I always?).  Below you will find an image of the “Top Banana” from the Banana Club Museum (, Mr. Ken Bannister.  I’m pretty sure this guy is a bit nuts (but who doesn’t like a bit of nuts with their bananas?).

A man in a banana costume is inherently funny, but I beg of you, bring on the GOB jokes!

The Irish do Competitive Running Right

I went to cheer on Enej at the St. Patrick’s Day run this past weekend and this was the sight that greeted the runners as they entered the post-race pavilion.  I had a stew and a delicious beer at 10:30am. Doin’ it up Irish-styles.

Stay tuned for tomorrow when I post my favorite costumes from the race  in honour of the feast day of St. Patrick himself.  Banish those snakes! Banish those snakes!
